Magnesium 400 + B1 + B6 + B12 + Folic Acid
Daily demands and physical strain from work or sport call for energy, muscle strength and resilient nerves u2014 all of which can raise the body’s need for magnesium and B-vitamins. Magnesium is a vital mineral the body cannot produce itself, and can only store in limited amounts. Good dietary sources include whole grain products, legumes, many vegetables, and liver, poultry and fish.
- Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function, normal energy metabolism, and normal nervous system function.
- Vitamin B1 additionally contributes to normal heart function.
- Vitamins B6 and B12 play a role in normal red blood cell formation, important for oxygen transport in the blood.
- Vitamin B6 also contributes to normal protein and glycogen metabolism.
- Folic acid contributes to normal blood formation and plays a role in cell division.
Magnesium needs vary by sex, age, activity level and life circumstances. Athletes need it doubly u2014 they sweat it out and need it for muscle function, including transporting lactate out of working muscle cells. During stress, magnesium has a calming, balancing effect on the nervous system, while stress itself can increase how much magnesium the body loses. With age, the body’s ability to absorb and store magnesium in bones and muscles declines, even as needs stay the same.
